Legendary Breakaway Roper Jackie Crawford’s San Diego Rodeo Win Comes After A Rope Off in Petco Park

Jackie Crawford leaves San Diego with anther championship title to her name.

Jackie Crawford is a 23-time World Champion who has picked up wins at every iconic rodeo across the United States. On Jan. 12, she added one more when a rope off between her and Josie Conner landed in the veteran’s favor.

“That just brings more excitment, I think. It’s so neat to see, we were joking becuase Kelsie [Domer] was giving me heck about being probably the oldest competitor here and then Josie to be one of the best young competitors coming up and it was just pretty neat to come down to those two,” Crawford said.

Crawford has had the chance to watch breakaway roping blossom into professional rodeo and being a part of San Diego Rodeo from the get go is something Crawford says is just so cool. Adding to it is the opportunities that are in the cards for rodeo’s next generation, like Crawford’s daughter.

“Oh my gosh, you know, I was talking to her before this and she was like ‘Mom, I just want to be there’ and I was like baby, you will be here,” she said.

Crawford was the No. 3 cowgirl coming into the Four-Man round in Petco Park after tying in Round 2 made up for a broken barrier in Round 1. When the rope off rolled around, the 2.6 was good enough for it all.
