Jason Smith Captures Round 1 Win at CFR

Jason Smith stopped the clock at 8.3 seconds to get the opening-round win at the Canadian Finals Rodeo. Smith beat out Bo Pickett, who was 8.5 seconds, to get the win.

Smith said, while the run was the fastest of the night, it wasn’t as easy as he made it look.

“I had him roped fast, and I didn’t hit him very good and I knew I just had to get him flanked so I could tie him. Got him flanked and had stuff going everywhere and got him tied.”

Smith was quick to credit his horsepower after the win.

“He works great for us every time. I’m sure glad to have him.”

Smith entered the CFR No. 6 in the standings, but after the win which earned him over $9,300, he moved up to No. 3 and is just $4,000 behind Haven Meged who is No. 1.
