Jess Pope is currently on the outside looking in at No. 16 in the PRCA World Standings, but the former World Champion bareback rider made a big move over the weekend.
Pope, who is $1,000 behind Orin Larsen for the No. 15 spot got the win in Ellensburg thanks to an 88-point ride in the Finals on Disco Party.
“It’s a really special animal. Calgary has done a really good job of having true TV penners, the ones that are just above everything else. That’s one of their superstars coming up,” Pope said of his Finals matchup.
Entering the week, Pope was No. 18 and $6,000 back of No. 15, that gap is nearly completely gone after his big win.
“Every dollar counts. When they run the good ones under me I have to use them,” he said.
With four weeks left in the regular season, Jess Pope has his work cut out for him, and there is no bigger name on the bubble than his.
