Just more than a week ago, barrel racer Jimmie Smith — currently sitting in third in the world standings — made a three-hour drive to Fort Worth to compete in the Rodeo X XTreme Team invitational.
Smith and her 10-year-old palomino mare Lena haven’t slowed down since. Competing in Bracket 5 of the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo‘s ProRodeo tournament, Smith stopped the clock at 16.52 seconds in her first performance at Dickies Arena on Friday, January and 31, winning the night and $1,760.
On Saturday afternoon, she finished second in the second performance, behind Brittney Barnett, but with a total of $3,080, Smith was the top overall earner in Bracket 5, and she and Lena are on to the semi-finals. Joining them are Brittany Barnett and wild card Ivy Hurst.
