John Douch Grabs Win in Excellent Pool A, Round 2 Tie-Down Roping in Calgary

Douch was the fastest in a very fast round

After Tuf Cooper won the First Round of Pool A with a 7.3-second run, things only escalated from there in tie-down roping in Round 2 at The Calgary Stampede.

Cooper and Marcos Costa, both of whom have Gold Buckles, were both 7.1 seconds, but it was the No. 4 cowboy in the World, John Douch, who won the round with a 7.0-second run. It was Douch’s fastest run of the season, beating out a 7.5 from St. Paul, Oregon earlier in the week.

“I knew I had a good calf today,” he said. “I just wanted to go make a good run, it was pretty easy today.”

The Go-Round win gives Douch more than $10,000 in Calgary with Tuf Cooper leading Pool A with $12,000. The Top 4 on money earned and both are in a great position to advance to Championship Sunday. They each compete one more Sunday at 3:30 PM ET on The Cowboy Channel and Cowboy Channel+.
