Cowgirl and bull rider, Jorden Halvorsen, has overcome many obstacles while being a female in the male-dominated events of rough stock riding.
Jorden grew up in North Carolina, partaking in multiple different sports as a child, such as riding horses and figure skating. Once Jorden chose rodeo as her passion, she immersed herself in all aspects of the sport.
Although Jorden’s first bull ride was meant to be a once in a lifetime experience, she was hooked instantly.
Jorden participated in the recent PBR Team Series Combine that took place at the Sports Performance Center in Colorado Springs. As the only female, Halvorsen proved quickly that her skills and ability to ride were comparable to many of the other male athletes in attendance.
“I didn’t want them to think that I’m just some girl that thinks she can ride in the PBR, I just like riding bulls, that’s just me, I’m really passionate about all aspects of rodeo”, Jorden says as she described what it was like being the only girl at the combine. The rest of the athletes continued to show her support and treated her as though she belonged in the sport as well.
