Jordon Briggs discusses her horse, Rollo, and more on Western Sports Round-Up

Jordon Briggs has long been one of the best barrel horse trainers in the business and in 2021, she qualified for the Wrangler NFR for the first time since 2009.

Briggs and Janie Johnson spent plenty of time talking about Rollo, Briggs’ main mount that she trained herself. She says since the end of the rodeo season, she has been hard at work building fence so Rollo spends as much time as possible in the pasture rather than a stall.

“I can brag all I want to that I trained Rollo, but I will never be able to make another one like him,” she said. “He is just solid, he just knows where to put his feet, I think I’ve hit like four barrels on him.”

The two also talked about why Briggs tried to make the NFR this year and how she prepares to run at the Thomas & Mack Center, which is a smaller arena.

“If any horse deserves to make 10 runs in the same arena, it’s Rollo,” she said. “I’m just excited that I get to be his jockey to do it.”

Briggs is No. 2 in the WPRA World Standings and will arrive in Las Vegas about $11,000 behind three-time reigning World Champion Hailey Kinsel.
