Justin Rumford Returns to Sandhills Stock Show and Rodeo

It has been ten years since the ten-time PRCA Clown of the Year Justin Rumford has entertained in the Ector County Coliseum. In 2024, he is back and ready for the Sandhills Stock Show and Rodeo.

Not only is he the clown during the PRCA Rodeo but his background and experience as a rodeo cowboy has come in handy. During the Sandhills Breakaway Roping he ran the neck rope for both rounds and the Short Go.

“I got to run the neck rope just like old times and it was really fun. It was a great roping,” he said.

Odessa was one of the first rodeos that Rumford was hired to work after he got his PRCA Clown Card. It was 2012 and looking back, Rumford said he was amazed and shocked.

“This is a rodeo town, this is rodeo savy people. They come out here, they know what they’re watching so it’s just a cool place to come in the winter,” Rumford said.

Three of six performances of the Sandhills Stock Show and Rodeo are complete while three more will be underway come Jan. 11 all on The Cowboy Channel.
