Jymmy Kay Cox is Determined to Make Her First National Finals Rodeo

Cox catches up with Steve Kenyon in Castle Rock, CO to discuss her strategy for the remainder of the season

Jymmy Kay Cox is on the hunt for her first qualification for the National Finals Rodeo.

Cox is currently No. 14 in the World Standings with $63,102 earned so far. She hopes to maintain her spot in the Top 15 and is $3,100 ahead of the No. 16 woman, Sissy Winn.

“A guy asked my dad, he said at her age why of all times is she doing this now and I said, because God said so, and when God says so Steve, you just do it,” Cox, who is in her mid 50s, said.

While Cox has yet to make it to the bright lights of Las Vegas, she is no stranger to the world of barrel racing and the WPRA. She is a past WPRA President and has hosted TV shows and radio broadcasts about women’s professional rodeo.

The competition continues to heat up as Cox keeps fighting for her spot amongst the 15 fastest ladies in the world of barrel racing.
