World Champion duo Kaleb Driggers and Junior Nogueira made all the right plays at Globe Life Field to win the American Rodeo.
After an 8.9 in the Ten Man Round, the duo snuck into the fourth spot to advance to the Shootout Round. They were the first team to go and the only team to catch earning the big win.
“First and foremost, I’d just like the give all the glory to God. If it wasn’t for him we wouldn’t be able to be here today. This rodeo has changed my life. Whenever it began I won it and it’s allowed me to better horses and get better partners like this,” Driggers said.
Being the only team that caught took their prize money from $100,000 to $140,000 when the dust settled. It is Drigger’s fifth American title, making him the holder of more American titles than anybody else, while it is Nogueira’s third.
“God always has a better plan than ourselves. I never thought we would make it back with our first run in there, I got a leg. But I told him, I said ‘God, everything you do is for a reason and if you want us to win this rodeo it’s going to be to glorify you and thank you for everything’ because without him, we couldn’t do anything,” Nogueira said.
