Laramie Mosley’s story was told before about how he got to where he is. He was on his way to qualifying for his first ever National Finals Rodeo in 2021 when on September 8, he came off of a bull and landed on his head, ending his terrific season early.

“I remember everything about it, just blew my hand, landed right on top of my head. I got up and everything was numb… I just ran back behind the bucking chutes and laid down,” Mosley said.

When he landed, he shattered his C5, C6 and C7 vertebrae. He had surgery, plates were put in and now he is on the come back trail.

“… Alright, so I’ve got a choice now. I can either be scared for the rest of my life or I can come back and know what it takes to get there and stay healthy,” he said.

Mosley did not have rehabilitation but he works with Doug Champion of Champion Living to stay at the top of his game and build back up to where he was. Besides that, once he was out of his neck brace he was back on horses and making a living.

Mosley’s comeback ride came in the preliminaries of the American, where he rode for 88 points. He says that he tries not to think about the injury and he got advice from eight time World Champion Donnie Gay. He told Mosley that there are always more rodeos with more money, don’t be afraid to save yourself.

Mosley emphasized how much a mental goal it is. He has the goal to make the NFR but he also has the goal of being a World Champion and he is back on the road working for just that.
