Dan Wall, GM and VP of the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, Oklahoma, talks about pulling off the National High School Finals Rodeo this year and what it took to pull off an event of that magnitude.
Earlier this summer Nebraska announced new state restrictions on large events due to the coronavirus pandemic that would have forced the NHSRA to cancel. So the association reached out to the Lazy E. When asked to host the world’s largest rodeo, Wall says the decision was easy. “If we didn’t step up, who would have?”
The Lazy E team agreed that the kids deserved the chance to compete at the finals, “… and the opportunity to finish their high school career without a championship is just something we weren’t going to allow to happen.”
