Leighton Berry came into Weatherford as the defending champion and during the last performance, he showed us why. A matchup with Pete Carr Pro Rodeo’s Drinkin Again ended with a score of 86.5 points to make Berry the back-to-back champion.
“Oh man, hometown rodeo, to win it once is awesome but to come back the next year and have an awesome horse like that, two years in a row on a paint horse of Pete Carr’s, feels really good. I’ve got some momentum going into the summer,” Berry said.
Berry’s success during the Winter Run has him just outside the No. 1 spot in the World by only $50 and he continues to add to it. The Weatherford win came by just half a point but it was enough to add $2,600 to his season earnings.
Texas cowboy Cole Franks claimed second while Bradlee Miller and Jacob Lees tied for third.
