Leslie Smalygo Claims Victory at RodeoHouston, Climbing to the Top of World Standings

Leslie Smalygo’s win at RodeoHouston not only secured her the Championship Title but also propelled her to No. 1 in the World Standings

Leslie Smalygo’s swift 14.35-second run not only secured the fastest time at RodeoHouston but also altered the course of her 2024 season as she clinched the coveted Championship Title and $50,000 check.

Smalygo entered RodeoHouston ranked No. 43 in the WPRA World Standings, but has climbed to the top with $67,212 in earnings, $58,000 of which were earned in Houston alone.

Smalygo attributes her victory to her incredible equine partner, Gus.

“I can’t even put it into words, I’m so excited for him. I’m so proud of him, I can’t even put what this means, it’s just a blessing,” Smalygo said.

Smalygo qualified for her first National Finals Rodeo in 2022, missed out in 2023, but is now on track for her second qualification.

Joining Smalygo in the 4-Man Round of RodeoHouston were Lisa Lockhart, Paige Jones, and Megan McLeod-Sprague.
