Lefty Holman is making his first Wrangler NFR appearance in 2020.
The California cowboy accumulated $49,670 and will show up at Globe Life Field in 12th place in the saddle bronc world standings.
A good chunk of Holman’s earnings came before the shutdown of rodeo in mid-March and that was thanks to the way he rode at the National Western and the San Antonio Stock Show in Rodeo.
In Denver in January, he placed on two rides, both of which were 86.5 points or better, to win about $4,000.

Before heading to Fort Worth, Holman placed at three other rodeos from Jan. 17-26. That included a $2,145 payday for finishing second at the Cinch World’s Toughest Rodeo in Moline, Illinois.
In Fort Worth, he won money on just one horse despite three rides marked 83 points or higher.
San Antonio, however, was much kinder. He rode all 6 broncs there and three times he received a score of 85.5 points or higher to win more than $7,500 at the event.

In the return to rodeo after the COVID-19 break, Holman struggled, he was bucked off in 2 of his first 4 broncs back and got on nine straight horses without earning a check.
He was penniless all of May and June before breaking through again at a rodeo that concluded on July 4 with a win at Oakley City (Utah). He was 87 points on the back of Painted Rose there and he would go on to place at both rodeos he competed at the next weekend.

In August, he won the Salmon (Idaho) Stampede and the US Open Xtreme Broncs Match in South Dakota to springboard him into September, where he placed in six rodeos total and won more than $8,000 to close the season.
Holman rode 93 percent of his broncs for an average score of 80.31 in 2020.
