Four-time world champion and 12-time NFR qualifier Tuf Cooper is gearing up for another NFR after a successful 2020 season saw him finish in second place.

Cooper’s season got off to a hot start at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo where he placed third in rounds two and three, and placed second in the finals. In total, he won $13,856 at the rodeo.

Cooper’s next big payday would come two weeks later at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo. Tuf would win three rounds and earn money in all five rounds leading up to the finals. In the finals he had a poor showing, placing eighth and missing out on an even bigger payday. In San Antonio alone, Tuf won $18,587.

After the COVID-19 outbreak, Tuf Cooper returned to form in Belle Fourche, South Dakota cashing a $3,000 check for third place after stopping the clock at 8.0 seconds.

After winning the Cody Stampede and collecting more than $8,000, Cooper cooled off, failing to earn a payday from early July to late August.

South Dakota is where he would get back on track, where he placed third after an 8.3-second run.

It was a quiet end to Cooper’s 2020 season, but he did enough to secure a second-place regular-season finish. Cooper will need a massive performance at the 2020 NFR in Arlington if he hopes to catch Shad Mayfield, who currently is nearly $90,000 ahead in earnings.
