Michael Lane Conquered The PBR In Charleston And Is Headed To St. Louis

Michael Lane had to watch his shot at the Velocity Tour Finals slip away after a thumb injury took him out of competition last year.

“All of my time at home, while I was out with that injury, I had to sit at home and watch the Velocity Finals go, I was in the lead for the $50,000 bonus, I had to watch that be taken from me, I had to watch the World Finals go down. So all that time, I’m just sitting at home hungry, and training and working hard for my opportunity,” Lane said.

He bounced back when that opportunity came this past weekend in Charleston, South Carolina. In Round 1, Lane went 80.5 points on Flint Rock to be seventh in the round. He was 87.5 points on Rock Solid’s Hickory in Round 2 to split second and third and then in Round 3, he made his highest marked ride on Oreo when he went 89 points.

“The short round is the beginning of the bull riding, you can’t win until you’re there. So I just clear my head and know that I’m there to do my job,” Lane said.

This Velocity Tour win got Lane an invite to the Unleash the Beast in St. Louis and then he will head to California and Arkansas.

“It’s nonstop, I truly wasn’t expecting any of it to come up on me this fast but I’m grateful that it has and I’m ready to take that on,” Lane said.
