Montana Bareback Rider Weston Timberman’s Phenomenal Rookie Season Continues

Weston Timberman had his sights set on Las Vegas and he is almost there.

Weston Timberman has ran away with the Resistol Rookie Bareback Riding title after a succesful year in every corner of America. Timberman has claimed multiple wins this year but his most recent is the bucket list rodeo known as the Pendleton Round-Up.

”... And then stepping into that arena for the first time and seeing how big it really is with the grass and the wooden bucking chutes and everything, it’s very surreal. It’s hard to put into words but it was so cool. When I showed up I was so excited to compete, I could hardly wait,” Timberman said.

Timberman’s first ever Long Round ride would take place during one of the rainiest days in history at the Pendleton Round-Up, a factor that only added to the already heightoned experience. With barback riding being the first event, they had no idea just how wet the grass really was.

“You’re kind of looking shoulder to shoulder next to everybody and you’re like holy cow, yeah, this is going to be wild. But you know what, seeing the 18 other guys that are going to have to do the same thing made it a little less nerve wracking I guess,” he said.

An 84.5-point ride on that rainy day locked in Timberman’s shot at the title and he drew Sankey Pro Rodeo and Phenom Genetics’ Land of Fancy on Short Go Saturday. This would be a rematch that Timberman had been hoping for after their first match up went tremendously in Bozeman during his Permit year.

“To be able to get on him in the Short Round in Pendleton, knowing how good he felt and knowing I could get along with him really well, it was super cool,” Timberman said.

Timberman’s Resistol Rookie year is going as good, if not better, than one can hope and he has unofficially locked in his place at the National Finals Rodeo as he sits No. 6 in the PRCA World Standings with only two weeks left in the regular season.
