Head Coach Justin McBride and the Nashville Stampede have added six free agents to their roster.
The most recognizable to longtime fans is Matt Triplett. The South Dakota native has rode under McBride in the past at the PBR Global Cup in 2018 and 2020. The 30-year-old has finished in the Top 10 of the final PBR World Standings three times in his career and has ridden 49 percent of his bulls in his career.
Another name in the Stampede’s list of additions may be more recognizable to fans of another sport. MMA fighter Dustin Ortiz is making the transition to bull riding. He currently holds a professional record of 20-9 and has fought in the UFC 14 times. Ortiz grew up near Nashville in Franklin, Tennessee and was a wrestling standout before transitioning to MMA.
Other additions include 20-year-old Brazilian Thiago Salgado, Jaxton Mortensen, whose father and uncle have qualified for the PBR World Finals, Matt Triplett mentee and fellow South Dakotan Mason Moody and three-time College National Finalist Aaron Williams.
