National Finals Rodeo Rookie Tie-Down Roper Joel Harris Smokes a Winning Round 9 Run

Tie-down roper Joel Harris claims second win

As he nears the end of his first National Finals Rodeo, Joel Harris made sure to capitalize. He ropes a 7.2 to win Round 9 and rack up his second Go-Round win.

“I would’ve been very pleased with one but after I got that first one, I was like, man that tasted good, I’d sure like another,” Harris said.

A pivotal part of consistent, good runs is the horsepower and Harris has one of the best. Logan Byrd’s Peso is highly sought after. Three of the top four times in Round 9 were clocked on the buckskin.

“It’s everything backing into the box knowing you have full confidence in your horse and he’s going to do the same thing every time,” he said.

While Harris claims Round 9, Riley Webb and Shad Mayfield still control the battle for a Gold Buckle.
