Kassie Mowry and a few NFR first-timers found the winner’s circle once again in the Thomas & Mack on Wednesday night.
Bradlee Miller has become a familiar face on the back of victory laps horses inside the Thomas & Mack. For the third time in seven rounds, Miller was victorious, this time with an 88.5-point ride on Full Baggage.
Miller entered the NFR No. 11 and is now No. 2 in the Projected World Standings while Keenan Hayes remains No. 1 in the Projected Standings.
In steer wrestling, Dakota Eldridge and Jesse Brown split Round 6 with matching 3.5s, which also matches the fastest run of the rodeo so far.
Eldridge is No. 1 in the World Standings, however, due to being 11th in the Average, is projected third in the World. Will Lummus remains the Projected World Champion while Cash Robb sits No. 2 in the Projected World Standings.
Coleman Proctor/Logan Medlin were last out in the team roping on Wednesday night and made a 3.5-second run to upend the leaderboard. It was their fourth check of the rodeo and fourth time of 4.3 seconds or faster.
In saddle bronc riding, Brody Cress got on the board with an 88-point ride on Four Star Rodeo’s Wall Street. Right behind him were a pair of World Title contenders, Wyatt Casper and Ryder Wright. Casper is No. 1 in the Projected Standings, Ryder is No. 3, and Zeke Thurston is sandwiched between them.
Tie-down roper Dylan Hancock got his first career NFR Go-Round in style. He matched the Round 7 record with a 6.7-second run, which is also the fastest of the rodeo. It’s the second straight night the round winner in the tie-down roping was in the 6s.
Barrel racer Kassie Mowry continued one of the most dominant stretches in NFR history in Round 7. After making the fastest run inside the Thomas & Mack since 2017 on Tuesday with a 13.25, she was even better on Wednesday, turning in a 13.19-second run. It is the second-fastest run in Thomas & Mack history.
With her fourth straight Go-Round Win, and Hailey Kinsel hitting two barrels on Wednesday, the World Title race has flipped toward Mowry.
In bull riding, Cooper James got his second career Go-Round win in seven tries at his first NFR and is now the second cowboy to ride five bulls. He is second in the NFR Average and Projected World Standings behind Josh Frost.
