Round 6 of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo had new faces claim the round win in multiple events.
Canadian Orin Larsen came out on top in the bareback while Ryder Wright got the round win in the saddle bronc for the second night in a row. Resistol Rookie of the Year, Creek Young, showed up and showed out on Resistol night be the Round Champion in the bull riding.
Dirk Tavenner has hit a hot streak in the city of lights and got his third round win in the steer wrestling. Coy Rahlmann and Douglas Rich got their first round win in the team roping while Cory Solomon was the fastest tie-down roper of the night. In the barrel racing, Ivy Saebens was second out on the ground and she set the pace quickly.
Bareback Riding
Orin Larsen was due for a round win and it came in Round 6. The Canadian cowboy went for 91 points on Pickett Pro Rodeo’s Night Gazer to win the bareback by 3.5 points. This ride moved him up to No. 6 in the aggregate and No. 11 in the World Standings.
Jess Pope has been having an outstanding finals and that continued in Round 6. He has climbed into the No. 2 spot in the world and is No. 1 in the aggregate.
Resistol Rookie Cole Franks has been living up to his name in Las Vegas as well. He is sitting No. 3 in the aggregate and has moved up to No. 9 in the World Standings.

Steer Wrestling
Dirk Tavenner is making his trip to the NFR worth it in every way. He came into the NFR in the No. ___ position and he is now No. 2 in the world. He has one three of the six go rounds and he is carrying the momentum all the way through.
“I just have to keep this rolling and see what happens at the end,” Tavenner said.
Jacob Talley is still No. 1 in the world by more than $9,000 but that can change quickly with the manpower in the steer wrestling.

Team Roping
Coy Rahlmann and Douglas Rich have some momentum to turn things around for the second half of the team’s NFR. Being the Round 6 Champions can make the next four rounds go completely different.
“This is a great confidence builder knowing we can do it and hopefully we can get some more money out of the rounds,” Rahlmann said.
Quinn Kesler and Joseph Harris did not rope together during the regular season but the way they are roping at the Thomas and Mack you would never know. They have moved into No. 6 in the aggregate and both are No. 8 in the World Standings after splitting second in the round.

Saddle Bronc Riding
It was a great night to be a Wright in the saddle bronc riding as the family takes the top 3 spots in Round 6. Ryder Wright topped the leaderboard on Border Town of Hi Lo Pro Rodeo, a horse that he has had success on before. He was followed up by Stetson Wright, who is hot on his heels for that No. 1 spot. Their uncle, Spencer Wright, came in third helping the family lock in Round 6.
NFR first timer Sage Newman put on a show in Round 6 on Mo Betta’s Sue City Sue while Canadians Kolby Wanchuk and Layton Green powered through the round to get some money.

Tie-Down Roping
Cory Solomon is a fan favorite and he got his first round win of his eighth NFR and he is now sitting second in the aggregate.
“Roping has gotten fun for me, I have really good horses and a really really good team of people behind me… I’m just out here having fun and I’m so thankful to be doing it,” Solomon said.
Marty Yates and Westyn Hughes split third in the round and are battling it out to climb to the top of the aggregate. Yates is currently in the No. 3 spot while Hughes is No. 6, both are moving up every night.

Barrel Racing
Another fan favorite to cinch a round win in Round 6 was veteran barrel racer, Ivy Saebens and her mare, JLo. Saebens was second out on the ground and she set the pace for Round 6 at 13.43 seconds.
“She feels phenomenal, she’s been feeling top of her game every single night and I just have yet to capitalize on my equine partner just wanting to go out there and win so I’m glad I could do it tonight for her, “ Saebens said on her horse JLo.
Hailey Kinsel is still holding on to that No. 1 spot in the world by more than $30,000 despite not having won a go round yet but she has been nothing if not consistent. Kinsel is third in the aggregate and with four rounds left, she has plenty of time to grab a round win.

Bull Riding
Resistol Rookie Creek Young captured his second round win in Round 6 and is now sitting No. 3 in the World Standings. He has only covered two bulls in the Thomas and Mack and both times he did he won the round with 90+ point rides.
“It’s been unreal, you always hear about Resistol Rookies going on to do great things and another round win tonight on Rookie night feels appropriate,” Young said about his first NFR.
Parker Breding is now five for six and is leading the aggregate and has moved to No. 4 in the World Standings while Boudreaux Campebll sits No. 2 in the aggregate on two head.
