No. 1 Steer Wrestler Will Lummus’ New NFR Horsepower Takes Him Back to the Winner’s Circle with Round 3 Win

Will Lummus has claimed two NFR Round wins and has taken over the lead in the World Standings.

Will Lummus is heating up at the Thomas & Mack as he claimed his second Go-Round win of the National Finals Rodeo Saturday night. This win came after a time of 3.5 seconds topped the leaderboard and be just four tenths of a second off of the Go-Round record.

“You know, just good horses. (Hazer) Clayton (Hass) did a great job again. I feel like Lucky slipped a little right there, Clayton was behind just a step. Lucky’s got so much gas he was able to close it, honestly, if we’re on a lesser horse I don’t really catch that one,” Lummus said.

Hass’ haze horse, Lucky, along with Lummus’ Swamper are making a memorable debut at the Thomas and Mack with two round wins already added to their name. Those same two round wins have Lummus leading the Average by six tenths of a second and he has taken over the lead in the World Standings by just $17,000.

“I was telling myself before walking down here, it’s just sharp on the start, tight head catch and big finish so that’s what we’re going to keep doing,” he said.

Tucker Allen was the No. 2 cowboy in Round 3 with Tyler Pearson earning third place money.
