Sage Newman has had two consecutive regular seasons that have landed him at the top of a long and distinguished list of great bronc riders. He enters this year’s National Finals Rodeo as the No. 2 cowboy, only behing seven-time World Champion Stetson Wright.
Of the many rodeos that have been good to the Montana cowboy this year, RodeoHouston, the Cody Stampede and Black Hills Roundup are some that he easily recalls as part of this great year.
“I got to get on Womanizer there at Houston. That was the first time I’ve been on her, Womanizer of Cervi’s, that’s a great horse. Lunatic From Hell, got to get on him at Belle Fourche, another great horse. There’s so many great horses out there. There all good, you know, so as long as you do your job right, you’re going to have a chance,” Newman said.
As he looks towards Las Vegas, he has his hopes set for a matchup with The Black Tie of Sankey Pro Rodeo and Phenom Genetics. As for his game plan during those ten rounds, keep it simple and do his job.
