The Parker County Sheriffs Posse Rodeo was a one-header in all events that paid out more than $150,000.
The fans in Weatherford, Texas saw a top-ranked roughstock cowboy go 90, a bulldogger win his third PRCA Playoff Series Rodeo this season, an 10-time NFR veteran win the saddle bronc riding, and an arena record fall in the barrel racing.
Starting in the bareback riding, where Leighton Berry extended his lead at the top of the PRCA World Standings with a 91-point ride on Pete Carr’s San Angelo Sam to win his hometown rodeo in Weatherford, Texas for the third time in the last four years.
In steer wrestling, Top 10 cowboy Bridger Anderson was 3.4 to win by two tenths. It was Anderson’s fastest time this season. Anderson was also the champion of the High Desert Stampede (Oregon) and the Red Bluff Round-Up this season, no bulldogger has won more Playoff Rodeos.
In saddle bronc riding, Jacobs Crawley was 90 points on Miss Texas to record his highest-marked ride of 2023. It was his first PRCA Playoff Series win and seventh overall this season.
Loni Kay Yates won a well-earned $4,200 in barrel racing thanks to an arena record-setting 16.76-second run. Yates is ranked 33rd in the world, but only about $12,000 outside the Top 15.
The other champions of the Parker County Sheriffs Posse Rodeo were Clint Summers/Jake Long in team roping (4.6 seconds), John Douch in tie-down roping (7.5 seconds), and Robbie Taylor and Cody Teel in bull riding (87.5 points).
