Partners on Either Side of the Bubble Make For Interesting Final Week in the Team Roping

The team roping bubble is unlike any other event

The team roping bubble race is heating up as some partners find themselves on opposite sides of the Top 15, with a handful of competitors just outside the cutoff set to compete at the Governor’s Cup.

Among those in the spotlight are No. 23 header Cyle Denison and No. 15 heeler Tanner Braden, who will rope together at the Governor’s Cup. Denison is $13,000 short of an NFR spot, but a strong showing could change his fate.

No. 21 heeler Kollin VonAhn, a five-time NFR qualifier, is also in the mix, though his partner Andrew Ward has likely already secured his place at the Finals. VonAhn currently sits $7,000 outside the Top 15.

There’s also a third team that features two cowboys outside the Top 15 who could make noise. The Bray brothers—Wyatt and Paden—who are ranked No. 20 and No. 23, respectively.

Paden is a two-time Reserve World Champion and Wyatt is chasing his first NFR qualification. Both will both compete at the Governor’s Cup, which is a golden opportunity. On the heel side, only one cowboy ranked No. 11-20 will be there, Tanner Braden and on the head side, No. 16-19 won’t be there and neither will No. 11 Cody Snow, No. 12 Derrick Begay and No. 14 Erich Rogers.
