Amadeu Campos Silva, 22, passed away on Sunday after an injury that occurred during a PBR Velocity Tour event in Fresno.
“Amadeu Campos Silva was a son, a brother, a soccer teammate, and a smiling presence in the locker room, here in the U.S. pursuing his bull-riding dream,” PBR CEO Sean Gleason tweeted on Monday morning. “We pay tribute to a kind-hearted young man who we will forever miss.”
The accident came after Campos Silva was bucked off and got his spur tangled under the bull’s right leg in the second round of the Fresno Invitational.
Campos Silva came to the United States from Brazil after riding on the PBR Brazil in 2017 and 2018. He competed at the 2020 PBR World Finals and had 100 outs in both the Velocity Tour and Unleash The Beast Series.
“My sincere condolences to the whole family of this brother who now went to live next to God, to brighten and make the sky even more beautiful,” reigning World Champion and friend Jose Vitor Leme said on Instagram. “Next few days will be difficult especially when we go to play football and remember you, tears will fill our eyes, but we know that where you are now there is no pain and no sadness, and that he will always have his eyes on us.”
