PBR’s Kate Harrison Chimes in on Tight World Title Race

The PBR World Finals start this week and we got the chance to talk with PBR Reporter Kate Harrison about the World Title race.

“The first night we could have a new leader, which we haven’t had in quite a few years,” Harrison said.

It is not even just the top three in a heated race, Harrison says that the entire top ten in the World have a chance at this title. She says the energy in the locker room at the last regular season event was unlike anything she’s seen in the past years.

Daylon Swearingen now sits No. 1 in the world after earning just enough in Billings, Montana and then pulling a check again at the Velocity Tour Finals in Corpus Christie, Texas.

“Here’s what I love about Swearingen… He picks Charmer, that was the bull that had the second highest bull score all season long, picks him in the draft when he could have gone an easier route and the amount of effort he put into that 8 seconds… to me that’s a guy that shows he wants to win this World Title,” Harrison said.

Joao Ricardo Vieira now sits No. 2 and although he has had an incredible career and he has come close, he has never cinched that World Title.

“If he wins the World, every single rider competing there is going to come into the arena and lift that guy up because they told me all season long ‘if I don’t win it, I want Joao to win it’… everyone wants this guy to win” Harrison said.

Kaique Pachecoo and Jose Vitor Leme sit No. 3 & 4 and Matt West says that they are looking for gold buckles and they are at the top of their game.

Another cowboy that has been building confidence towards the end of the season and just won the Velocity Tour Finals is Clayton Sellars. He sits in the No. 21 position going into the World Finals but West says that he is one that could change the narrative.

The World Title in the bull race is just as tight. Woopaa and Ridin Solo are battling it out for that title and Pookie Holler is sitting third.

World Titles will be won come May 22, 2022.
