Performance 4 of the Cheyenne Frontier Days Kicks off With a Three Way Tie in the Bareback Riding

Cooper Filipek, Lane McGehee and Dean Thompson all rode for 88 points on stock from Dakota Rodeo

Performance 4 of the Cheyenne Frontier Days started off with three impressive 88-point bareback rides made by Cooper Filipek, Lane McGehee and Dean Thompson.

The three young cowboys were matched up with horses from Dakota Rodeo. Filipek was first to go, matching up with American Graffiti, but the bareback horse was not his only concern.

“Not going to lie, I was a little nervous last night looking at everybody that was up tonight,” Filipek said about his competition. “I figured I’d have my hammer cocked and try to win it today.”

McGehee was happy that he was able to ride such a great bareback horse like Gun Powder.

“Yeah, Dakota Rodeo is probably one of the best stock contractors in the business. You just saw today here, the whole perf they had it,” he said. “And they were some of the best horses you’ve seen all week, so shout out to them.”

Despite his chute help saying that he would have to be 90 points to get out of the set, Thompson and Guitar Town proved that an 88-point ride was enough to compete.

“He said, you’re going to have to be a 90 to get out of this set, and I said ‘it shouldn’t be a problem’,” Thompson said.
