RodeoHouston

The completion of the third and biggest leg of the Texas Swing brought with it some massive moves in the PRCA Bareback Riding World Standings. RodeoHouston’s Champion Shootout brought big scores and big paydays while also proving that a little bit of momentum is all you need.

No. 1 Leighton Berry, $75,058

Berry’s move in the standings was the biggest of all going from No. 15 after San Antonio to No. 1 when he claimed his second consecutive RodeoHouston title. He was the No. 4 man moving on from his Super Series and from his Semifinals, quietly moving on every time. However, his matchup in the Championship Shootout was anything but. The 91.5-point ride on Calgary Stampede’s Agent Lynx said it all.

No. 2 Garrett Shadbolt, $59,004

Shadbolt played a waiting game in Houston after cinching his place in the Semifinals in Super Series 1. From there, the Nebraska cowboy battled back to the Finals when he won the Wildcard with an 87-point ride on Pete Carr Pro Rodeo’s Night Faded. It would be another 87-point ride in the Championship Shootout that tied for second and the $20,000 that came with it.

No. 3 Cooper Cooke, $58,377

As a three year veteran in the PRCA, Cooke has steadily climbed higher each year. This year is no different. He earned $5,500 in his Super Series to be the No. 1 cowboy moving on to the Semifinals where his 87-point ride on Calgary Stampede’s Buckin gKnight put him No. 1 again. In the Championship Shootout, Cooke made a $10,000 86.5 point ride to move into the Top 3 in the World.

No. 8 Tanner Aus, $38,510

Aus made it all the way to the Championship Shootout in Houston after being the No. 2 bareback rider in Super Series 1. From there a pair of 85-point rides landed him in the Championship Shootout. Aus left Houston with $10,500 added to his earnings. He also placed at the 96th Annual Arcadia All-Florida Championship Rodeo and won the North Dakota Winter Show Rodeo to add another $2,700 to his name.

No. 17 Clint Laye, $27,100

Layes momentum got started at the La Fiesta De Los Vaqueros when he finished fourth in the Finals and sixth in the Average. Then it was time for RodeoHouston where the Alberta bareback rider made $8,000 in his Super Series. He picked up another $3,000 with an 87.5-point ride in the Wildcard aboard Pete Carr Pro Rodeo’s San Angelo Sam.
