The PRCA is now inserting a new ground rule in the Team Roping that will affect larger scale rodeos regarding the payout format.
Matt Sherwood, Team Roping Director for the PRCA, explains how this rule will make an impact and why it was set in place.
“We wanted to see how this will affect the guys, more catches, more clean runs, better show in the performance,” Sherwood said.
With this rule implemented, the teams that place in the Top 12 and Top 15 at these particular rodeos will now win a check, in-lieu-of only the Top 10.
“The only rodeos this is going to affect is one-head rodeos,” Matt said while describing what rodeos this rule will have an impact on.
The majority of the athletes have been supportive of this rule and Sherwood believes this change will be beneficial overall for not only the teams themselves, but the fans and contractors as well.
