The Top 5 in the steer wrestling - Dalton Massey, Tyler Waguespack, Jesse Brown, Will Lummus and Ty Erickson - has gotten plenty of deserved attention this year.
Massey broke the PRCA regular season earnings record, Waguespack leads several statistical categories and has won the last two Gold Buckles, Brown has been to three straight NFRs, Lummus is the reigning Reserve World Champion and Erickson won the Gold Buckle in 2019.
They, however, are not the only steer wrestlers having great seasons and this event is always close, so there are some other cowboys to watch. Most notably, Jacob Talley and JD Struxness.
Despite being ranked No. 9 in the world, Talley leads the PRCA in 3.7 Second or Faster Runs and ranks second in Average Time, 4.2 Second or Faster Runs and Go-Round Wins.
Struxness, on the other hand, is No. 6, but cracks the Top 5 in Average Time and Qualified Time Percentage, the latter of which he leads as the only bulldogger above 90 percent.
