The Summer Run has brought big money and big wins to the big guy’s sport. Even so, the steer wrestlers have been chasing Dalton Massey all season as he had held on to the No. 1 spot.

No. 1 Dalton Massey, $150,461

A successful summer started with wins in Reno and St. Paul over Cowboy Christmas but since, Massey continues to capitalize. He cashed in at Calgary and in Wyoming before wrapping up the month of July with a win at the Big Sky Pro Rodeo worth over $4,000.

No. 2 Dakota Eldridge, $135,812

Nevada’s Eldridge has been heating up coming into August by placing at Utah Days of ’47 Rodeo, Cheyenne Frontier Days. He wound up second in the Average at the Dodge City Roundup after a 3.7-second run in the Finals. His August is worth $9,500 in just the first week.

No. 3 Stetson Jorgensen, $113,004

Jorgensen’s success over Cowboy Christmas catapulted him into more success to close out July. He picked up a $3,300 Go-Round win at the Central Wyoming Fair and PRCA Rodeo before finishing inside the Top 10 at the NFR Open. He also won another Go-Round in Salinas as well as the Red Desert Roundup.

No. 4 Will Lummus, $107,633

After cashing in at Utah Days of ’47 and Ogden Pioneer Days, Lummus picked up another $3,000 in Cheyenne before heading to the Dodge City Roundup. There, he picked up a win worth $9,400. Another win came his way at the Steamboat Springs Pro Rodeo Series thanks to a 3.7-second run.

No. 5 Don Payne, $101,614

The Texas bull dogger hit the jackpot at Utah Days of ’47 Rodeo. He took home the Gold Medal after a 3.9-second run in the Finals and this added $14,500 to his earnings. Since then, he placed third at the Douglas County Fair and Rodeo for another $3,000.

No. 6 Ty Erickson, $92,237

Erickson’s season has been short but sweet. The World Champion finished fourth at the Livingston Roundup Rodeo with a 4.3 and picked up Go-Round money at the greatest outdoor show on earth. A 3.6-second run was also fast enough for third at the Central Montana PRCA Rodeo.

No. 7 JD Struxness, $85,463

Struxness swept the Fiest Days Rodeo in Utah to add over $15,000 to his season earnings at the perfect time. He followed it up with a second-place finish at the Central Montana PRCA Rodeo and third in the Average at the Big Sky Pro Rodeo.

No. 8 Tanner Brunner, $78,450

Since making the fastest run of the Reno Short Go, Brunner did it again when he ran a 3.3 to win the Home of Champions Rodeo. He placed in Round 2 of the California Rodeo Salinas as well as at the Dodge City Roundup. Meanwhile, a 4.2 was enough for $1,000 in Colorado.

No. 9 Tucker Allen, $77,375

Allen found himself with a second-place payday in the Short Go and Average at California Rodeo Salinas. This added almost $6,000 to his name. He has since found himself in the money in South Dakota and at another California rodeo before he won the Douglas County Fair and Rodeo with a 3.6-second run.

No. 10 Jacob Edler, $73,067

Edler is back with his foot on the gas. He is consistently making trips to the pay window A 6.4 put him second in Round 2 in Salinas before a 3.4 put him second in Ogden. He would win the Average at Ogden Pioneer Days to cash in over $7,500.

No. 11 Tyler Pearson, $69,397

Pearson’s veteran ways shine through as he capitalizes on the Averages every where he goes. This includes St. Paul Rodeo Fiesta Days Rodeo and Deadwood Days of ’76. Since then, he picked up a check from a Dodge City Roundup Go-Round with a 4.4-second run.

No. 12 Stephen Culling, $68,368

Culling also capitalized at California Rodeo Salinas when he finished fifth in the Average after a 6.7-second run won him the Short Go. As for August, he has added almost $3,000 to his name after a 4.3 and 4.5 put him No. 2 in the Big Sky Pro Rodeo Average.

No. 13 Jesse Brown, $65,682

The NFR Open, Utah Days of ’47 Rodeo and Cheyenne Frontier Days have all been good to Oregon’s four-time NFR qualifier but his fastest run so far between July and August was his 3.3 that cinched him a Go-Round win in Calgary.

No. 14 Jacob Talley, $62,921

Talley threw down a 3.7-second run to win the Greeley Stampede Short Go earlier in July and since then, he found a second-place pay day in Montana and a sixth-place in Utah. He also finished seventh in the NFR Open to add another $1,500 to his name.

No. 15 Justin Shaffer, $61,159

Shaffer has been on a roll lately as he racked up pay days in Colorado, Utah and Texas. He also found himself clocking a 4.4 in Dodge City Roundup’s Short Go for a fourth-place check. Before that, he finished second in the Average at Deadwood Days of ’76 Rodeo to pick up steam.

No. 16 Scott Guenthner, $58,129

Although Guenthner found success at the Calgary Stampede and the NFR Open to the point that he jumped inside the Top 20, the four-time NFR qualifier has decided to remain semi-retired and close to home in Canada making his most recent pay day the NFR Open.

No. 17 Walt Arnold, $57,461

Arnold is gunning for his first trip to Las Vegas and finding the pay window at the Daddy of ‘Em all will help. Since then, he has picked up two more checks, one in Kansas and one in Colorado. A 3.9-second run at the Steamboat Springs Pro Rodeo Series was enough for second.

No. 18 Cash Robb, $55,488

Robb is also looking to be a first-time NFR qualification. Recently, he has placed third at the Jerome County Fair and Rodeo with a 3.8-second run after a 4.1 put him eighth at the Larimer County Fair and Rodeo.

No. 19 Rowdy Parrott, $55,143

Parrott is hoping to burst the bubble before September 30 and so far in August, he has picked up over $4,500. He ran a 4.1 to be fourth at the War Bonnet Round Up after a 4.2 was also fourth at the Mountain Vallet Stampede.

No. 20 Riley Duvall, $53,942

Duvall’s most recent pay day came as a win at the Sheridan County Fair and Rodeo in Nebraska. His 4.1-second run was worth $1,700 after he also placed third at another Nebraska rodeo to cash in another $1,600.
