PRCA Steer Wrestling World Standings Update, July 11: Dalton Massey’s Lead Continues to Extend

Dalton Massey adds to his earnings with Dakota Eldridge and more try to close in.

No. 1 Dalton Massey, $131,781

After splitting the Reno Rodeo win, Massey went on to be one tenth of a second away from a clean sweep at St. Paul. A third-place in Round 1 was worth $3,300 that was added to his win in Round 2 and the Average. He left with almost $15,000 added to his name.

No. 2 Dakota Eldridge, $97,641

Eldridge’s Cowboy Christmas resulted in $7,500 coming his way. A 4.8 at the Cody Stampede was worth $5,400 while he went on to be in the money at the Basin City Freedom Rodeo with a 5.2-second run.

No. 3 Stetson Jorgensen, $78,314

The Idaho cowboy had a well payed trip to Prescott when he came out the No. 1 man in the Average at the World’s Oldest Rodeo. He cashed in $5,800 to get some momentum before he went to the 89th Annual Independence Day Rodeo where he was 3.6 to get another $4,200 added to his name.

No. 4 Will Lummus, $69,318

Lummus was zoned in over the Fourth. He would add a total of $18,000 through out the week. It got started with a 5.1 in Cody before he would go 4.2 in Livingston. The big check came at St. Paul Rodeo when a 7.7 on two would bring majority of his Cowboy Christmas earnings.

No. 5 Tanner Brunner, $66,759

Brunner has been consistent this summer and two runs over Cowboy Christmas prove why he is No. 5 in the World. A 3.3 cinched the win in Red Lodge before a 3.9 would put him in the money in St. Paul before he wrapped up the Fourth Run by placing in the Average in Big Fork.

No. 6 Tucker Allen $65,333

Allen’s summer has simmered down but there is plenty of money left to be won. He cashed in with a sixth-place finish at the Home of Champions Rodeo but before that he was in the money in the Finals and Average of the Greeley Stampede.

No. 7 Don Payne, $65,313

The Texas steer wrestler wrapped up his month of June and kick off July on a high. A win in Round 2 at West of the Pecos was worth $1,600 before he would rack up $9,000 at the Greeley Stampede.

No. 8 Ty Erickson, $63,513

Erickson’s successful winter is paying off since he was sidelined in May and June. Since his return to the arena, he was 4.3 in Livingston to cash in $2,500 and he has made it back to the Semifinals at the Calgary Stampede.

No. 9 JD Struxness, $60,337

Struxness has had a slow summer but over the fourth, he wound up added almost $3,000 to his season earnings. A 6.0 at the Cody Stampede and a 4.0 at the BigFork Summer ProRodeo would lead to the paydays.

No. 10 Stephen Culling, $56,380

Another bull dogger with a slow summer is Culling. He also cashed in by placing at the Home of Champions Rodeo but a 6.7 is currently sitting fourth in the Go-Round at the NFR Open.

No. 11 Jacob Talley, $51,272

Talley has been heating up for the summer. He earned $2,500 at the Greeley Stampede before a 3.8 put him second at the Home of Champions Rodeo. His Cowboy Christmas did not stop there as he stopped the clock at 4.0 in Oakley City, Utah to earn another $2,600.

No. 12 Tyler Pearson, $51,525

The World Champion also had a slow Cowboy Christmas. His only payday since Reno Rodeo came when he placed in the Average at the St. Paul Rodeo with an 8.6 on two head.

No. 13 Jesse Brown, $48,516

A few big paydays came Brown’s way over the Fourth and it got started with a 3.3 to win Round 2 of the Greeley Stampede. He followed it up with a $2,400 run at the Cody Stampede and wrapped it up with a 4.5 to be second at the Basin City Freedom Rodeo.

No. 14 Walt Arnold, $45,858

Arnold had a standout performance in Round 1 of the Greeley Stampede when he stopped the clock at 3.9 to be fifth. It added $2,000 to his earnings before a 4.0 added another $200 from St. Paul Rodeo.

No. 15 Cash Robb, $44,646

Robb’s eyes are on Las Vegas and his $12,200 Cowboy Christmas has him inside the Top 15. A blazing 3.7 cinched the win at the legendary Cody Stampede for the Utah bull dogger before an even faster 3.5 would win the Annual Independence Day Rodeo in his home state.

No. 16 Travis Munro, $41,905

The Greeley Stampede was good to Munro as he cashed in $2,000 to keep things rolling. It was a 4.0 in Round 1 and a 4.1in the Finals to get Munro into the money.

No. 17 Jacob Edler, $41,770

A successful trip to the Molalla Buckeroo Rodeo was in store for Edler. His fastest run would be a 4.6 before he would be a 9.5 on two to win the Average. He walked away with $4,000.

No. 18 Riley Duvall, $41,424

Since Reno Rodeo, Duvall has had a slow summer too. He brought in $80 after a 4.1 put him in a five way tie for eighth in the First Round of the St. Paul Rodeo.

No. 19 Justin Shaffer, $40,931

A couple clutch paydays came Shaffer’s way over Cowboy Christmas. He placed in the Average at West of the Pecos before going on to be fourth in Round 1 of the Greeley Stampede and second at Home of the Champions. It added a combined $5,300 to his earnings.

No. 20 Gavin Soileau, $36,191

Soileau went to work over Cowboy Christmas to bring in $15,900 to his season earnings. His fastest run of the week came at the Livingston Roundup Rodeo when he put a 3.5 on top of the leaderboard but his biggest payday came when he won the Average at the St. Paul Rodeo.
