Team roping in 2023 brought with it some big changes in the teams themselves and now that we are well into the summer run, things are shaping up.
Rhen Richard and Jeremy Buhler have held on tight to the No. 1 spot in the PRCA World Standings for most of the season. It is a $16,500 lead that the duo has over Dustin Egusquiza and Levi Lord. We have seen big things from the Graham Brothers and the Yeahquo Brothers as well.
No. 3 Kaleb Drigger and Junior Nogueira
Reigning World Champions Driggers and Nogueira have been consistent as ever this season picking up checks almost everywhere they go, including Reno Rodeo. They kicked off their summer run with over $18,000 coming their way. The two also finished third in the average at the World’s Oldest Rodeo to rack up another $3,000. They had a lucrative Cowboy Christmas with success in St. Paul, Oregon, Mandan, North Dakota and Basin City, Washington.
No. 8 Derrick Begay and No. 15 Colter Todd
Begay and Todd found the pay window for Go-Round wins at both Reno Rodeo and Rodeo de Sante Fe before their momentum picked up at the Greeley Stampede. A second-place finish in the Finals and winning the average added over $6,500 to their 2023 earnings. The two rodeos that they cashed in at over Cowboy Christmas were the Oakley Independence Day Rodeo in Utah for over $4,000 and the Livingston Roundup Rodeo in Montana for another $4,000.
No. 15 Clay Smith and No. 17 Colby Payne
This is a new team in 2023 and they are finding their stride. They kicked off their summer at Reno Rodeo where they pulled a Go-Round check and finished fifth in the average before heading to Prineville, Oregon and winning another Go-Round at the Crooked River Roundup. Over Cowboy Christmas where they earned over $12,000. Their biggest payday that week came from the Killdeer Mountain Roundup when they were a 4.0 to win it all. Since then, they roped a 4.5 in Vernal, Utah to win the Dinosaur Roundup Rodeo and bring in another almost $4,000.
