With only three weeks left in the regular season, some major moves were made at the Cinch Playoffs in Puyallup

The Cinch Playoffs in Puyallup had contestants vying for a $13,000 payday in the Short Round in addition to a spot in the $1 million Governor’s Cup to close the regular season in Sioux Falls.

Jess Pope Wins Again, Cracks Bareback Riding Top 15

Pope, a three-time NFR Average Champion, had climbed all the way to No. 16 in the World Standings after winning Ellensburg and on Sunday, he swept the Semifinals and Finals to win Puyallup.

Pope’s $13,000 Short Round ride was an arena record 92.5 points on Disco Party of The Calgary Stampede.

(This win) is very meaningful, it was a little tough rodeoing this year,” he said. “The last four or five weeks have been really good, I’ve been on a roll.”

Coleman Proctor/Logan Medlin Dominate in Team Roping

Proctor/Medlin moved up from No. 7 and 8 in the World respectively to No. 4 after a winning $19,900 apiece Puyallup.

They turned in four times of 4.9 or faster and won both of their Qualifying Rounds in addition to the Finals.

“I just try to back in there and do the best job I can every time, I know I got the best heeler in the World, Proctor said.

Shad Mayfield Re-Asserts Himself as the No. 1 Tie-Down Roper in the World

Mayfield now leads World No. 2 Ty Harris by $24,000 after winning in Puyallup for the second time in the last three years.

Mayfield, who now has $231,000 on the season, was 7.4 in the Finals to get the win. He now has a PRCA-leading 17 times of 7.5 seconds or faster. He also turned in times of 8.4 and 7.9 seconds along the way.

“It’s been an awesome year, but very challenging with the injuries I’ve been facing,” Mayfield said. “I give all glory to God.”
