Puyallup Cinch Playoffs: Thursday Night Daysheet, Performance 1

The first set of two contestants that will compete at the Puyallup Rodeo for their shot to attend the Govenor’s Cup is set. This rodeo could make or break some on the bubble while others are trying to further their lead in the World Standings.

BAREBACK RIDING

Cole Reiner and Jess Pope could move away from the bubble depending on their trips in Puyallup. Performance 1 has it’s work cut out for it as both cowboys will nod their heads on Calgary Stampede broncs that they will have to flash up.

STEER WRESTLING

Clayton Hass is No. 20 on the outside looking into the Top 15 but Puyallup could change it all. Hass has the horsepower to dominate the competition.

TEAM ROPING

Tanner Tomlinson and Patrick Smith clocked a 4.3 to win Round 1 last year before advancing with a time of 8.6 on two head. The duo could use a win to climb higher in the standings before the end of the season.

SADDLE BRONC RIDING

A star-studded list of saddle bronc riders will make for explosive rides in Puyallup. Reigning World Champion Zeke Thurston will match up with Calgary Stampede’s Yuppie Bubbles. This is a rematch, the two went for 85 points at the Calgary Stampede in 2022.

TIE-DOWN ROPING

John Douch found himself placing in Round 1 and 2 in 2023 with consistent times of 9.1 and 9.0 to advance in 2023. He is out for redemption as a no time in the Finals kept him from the win.

BREAKAWAY ROPING

Jackie Crawford just fell to No. 2 in the World but a successful trip in Puyallup would not only return her to No. 1, it would add a decent lead with rodeos like the Pendleton Roundup and Govenor’s Cup remaining.

BARREL RACING

Paige Jones placed in both Round 1 and 2 in 2023 but the Semifinals Round took her out of the competition. Her and her equine partner, Bazinga are on the bubble by $1,200 but looking to cinch their second NFR qualification.

BULL RIDING

Clayton Sellars is No. 5 in the World but a matchup with Outlawbuckers Rodeo’s Naught Kisher could bump him up. T Parker rode the bull for 87.5 points in Ellensburg in 2023 while more recently, Tyler Bingham was 82 points at the same rodeo.
