The PRCA Tie-Down Roping World Standings have big money inside the Top 3 and rounding out that Top 3 is World Champion Haven Meged. With $195,943 to his name in tie-down earnings alone, he sits just $11,000 behind the No. 2 cowboy in the World and he is quickly closing in to be your Pyranha Timed Event Athlete of the Week.
During slack at the Kitsap Stampede, Meged stopped the clock at 8.2 seconds to tie the fastest time of the rodeo. In the third and final performance in Bremerton, nobody would be any faster leaving Meged as the Co-Champion with Paden Bray. This split added $4,700 to Meged’s season.
His big win of the week came at the Horse Heaven Roundup where he would earn another $6,300. The Montana native would get faster with every round in Kennewick after starting it off with an 8.2 that barely got him into the Round 1 money. In Round 2, his 7.7 would put him in a three-way tie for seventh but in the Short Go, Meged blazed a 7.0-second run to be the fastest of the entire rodeo. It also made up enough ground to tie him for the No. 1 spot in the Average.
Meged is locking in his sixth National Finals Rodeo qualification with sights set on a second Gold Buckle. He sits $20,000 behind the No. 1 tie-down roper in the World with five weeks left in the regular season. Meged’s hustle makes him your Pyranha Timed Event Athlete of the Week.
