Jesse Brown got redemption in Pendleton in a big way when he claimed his second Pendleton Round-Up title. It was a game of consistency and all about the Average but the home state cowboy pulled out on top to be your Pyranha Timed Event Athlete of the Week.
Brown’s 6.6 in Round 1 was the No. 12 time and he bested that in Round 2 by two tenths of a second to sneak into the money. He earned his place in the Short Go where he clocked his fastest time of the week when his 5.3-second run was third. Brown’s time on three head was 18.3 seconds, one tenth of a second faster the fellow Oregon cowboy Dalton Massey who finished second.
In 2019, Brown claimed his first Pendleton title and finished the regular season as the No. 25 ranked steer wrestler in the World. This year, he left Pendleton with over $9,000 to jump to No. 7 in the PRCA World Standings and he has unofficially locked in his fifth National Finals Rodeo qualification.
Brown says the Short Go in Pendleton can be one of the coolest days of the rodeo season and his was even sweeter being that he was in his home state surrounded by his fellow bull dogging buddies.
Your Pyranha Timed Event Athlete of the Week is Brown after a successful trip back on his home turf.
