As the season is nearing its end, Dustin Egusquiza and Levi Lord are putting in the work to keep their positions as the No. 1 team roping header and heeler in the World.
The duo is in their second year of roping together and after ending 2023 No. 9 in the World, they are hungry for gold. Success in Washington and Idaho on Labor Day Weekend make them your Pryanha Timed Event Athletes of the Week.
A win came their way at the Magic Valley Stampede (Idaho) to send them into the weekend already hot. They won the one-header with a time of 3.7 seconds that nobody could beat even with a three-way tie for second at 3.9 seconds. Egusquiza and Lord each added $4,800 to their season earnings with this win before heading on to Washington.
At the Ellensburg Rodeo, it was an Average game where Egusquiza and Lord also capitalized on the Go-Rounds. Round 1 was theirs after a run of 4.6 seconds was four tenths faster than the next closest pair. After not placing in Round, 2 but still making it back to the Finals, a 5.2 was the magic number on Championship Monday to get the veteran ropers the Finals win and put them No. 2 in the Average by just one tenth of second.
Egusquiza and Lord are fighting off two-time World Champion pair Kaleb Driggers and Junior Nogueira to keep the No. 1 spots in the World. They are just $4,000 ahead of the No. 2 team.
