Team ropers Tyler Wade and Wesley Thorp have found a sweet spot in August and they are making it count. The World Champion duo is your Pyranha Timed Event Athletes of the Week after cashing in on $9,200 last week.
Their biggest payday came at the Farm-City Pro Rodeo when they placed in Round 1 and the Average. It all got started with a 4.6-second run in Round 1 that would be worth $2,800 before they ended up with a time of 10.1 on two head to split third in the Average.
From there, Wade and Thorp made their fastest run of the week when they stopped the clock at 3.8 seconds at the Lea County PRCA Rodeo. Although this Go-Round win was all that came their way in New Mexico, it came with a $2,900 trip to the pay window.
Utah brought their next payday to the tune of $1,400 after a successful 4.7-second run at the Cache County Fair and Rodeo. Idaho’s Owyhee County Rodeo would round it out with a 5.9 to be third.
Wade is currently sitting just outside the Top 3 in the PRCA World Team Roping Header Standings while Thorp is holding on to the No. 3 spot in the World Heeling Standings. This is the duo’s second year roping together and they are gunning for their second National Finals Rodeo qualification as a team. A successful first week of August has them headed in the right direction to end their season right where they want to be. Wade and Thorp are our Pyranha Timed Event Athletes of the Week.
