Reigning Junior World Champion Brody Dent Talks Getting His Start in Rodeo, Legendary Mentors and More

Brody Dent ran away with a World Championship in 2024.

Bareback rider Brody Dent absolutely dominated the World Championship Junior Rodeo in 2024 when he came in with an early lead and never let up. He ended up the World Champion.

“Yeah, I mean, I just tried to nominate as many rodeos as I could throughout the year and just tried to do my thing all year and when I got there, I just tried to keep the ball rolling and keep the momentum,” Dent said.

Dent is a first generation cowboy who got into rodeo by way of friends during the pandemic. He started with steers, fell in love and has been well on his way to making a name for himself in the arena ever since.

“A guy named Brian Bain, he qualified for the NFR in 2011-2012 and he’s actually the stock contractor back at home. So I tried to surround myself with him as much as I could and just try to learn the tricks of the trade from him. I can’t thank him enough for everything he’s done for me,” Dent said.

Other legends that Dent has learned from include Austin Foss and Steven Peebles. The Orgeon cowboy is surrounded by good rodeos and iconic mentors.

The 18-year-old plans to attend Clarendon College in the fall onf 2025 and has his sights set on big goals.
