Reno Kids Day Gives Nevada Children a Front Row Seat to Rodeo and Agriculture

Reno Rodeo’s Why is all about the kids and they hone in on helping them through the Reno Rodeo Foundation

Reno Rodeo Kids Day is a one day event that is open to children where they can get hands on education about western heritage and agriculture all while having some fun.

“It’s kind of the one day of year that we just open this whole thing up and focus on western heritage, safety and education for the kids. There were a few thousand of them in here today so it was good,” said Violet Richards, Chairman of Reno Kids Day.

Among face paintings, arts and crafts, a petting zoo and mutton busting, the local Boy Scouts troop showed up with an activity of their own to teach safety and more. Among the others educating at Reno Kids Day was a dentist, dairy farmer and a total of 37 vendors.

This is their ninth year of Reno Kids Day. It is an event that continues to grow and makes up for only one part of how Reno Rodeo gives back to their community.

“During the year, Reno Rodeo gives back about three quarters of a million dollars into the community and this is part of it and that’s a big part of what we do. We work all year to put this on and this day just absolutely ratifies that the hard work paid off and that we did the right thing,” Richards said.
