Resistol Rookie Athlete of the Week: Bareback and Bull Rider Wacey Schalla Can’t Be Stopped

Oklahoma’s Wacey Schalla is winning every where he goes. The All-Around rookie hand picked up a total of six paydays this past weekend to now be a five-time Resistol Rookie Athlete of the Week.

In the bareback riding, two fourth-place finished and an eighth came his way. He cashed in $2,400 between the three rodeos. His best work for the week came while at That Famous Preston Night Rodeo. He matched up with Legacy Rodeo’s Robins Ruby to be 81 points and split the fourth-place finish.

The bull riding is where he burst the bubble as Schalla’s combined payday would come out to more than $23,700.

It started with a win at the Mountain Valley Stampede when he rode Powder River Rodeo’s Fabio for 87 points. From there, an 85 on Macza Pro Rodeo’s Big River put him third at the War Bonnet Round Up before an 82 came his way in Colorado. At the Larimer County Fair and Rodeo, Schalla conquered Beutler and Son Rodeo’s Bracket Buster for $3,300.

Schalla’s most recent success came at the Lea County Rodeo Xtreme Bulls. An 89.5 on Pete Carr Pro Rodeo’s Richard Slam would win the First Round. In the Finals, he would tie for first with an 88-point ride on Salt River Rodeo’s Crawfish. The Average was all his after an outstanding performance from the No. 1 All-Around rookie.

Schalla now sits No. 9 in the PRCA World Bull Riding Standings and he is No. 28 in the bareback. If you check the Resistol Rookie Race, he leads the All-Around by $55,000. Schalla is now a five-time Resistol Rookie Athlete of the Week.
