Weston Timberman might be a rookie but he is rodeoing like a veteran. The Montana bareback rider got a piece of it in Reno before hitting the jackpot at the Ponoka Stampede. His win in Canada makes him your Resistol Rookie Athlete of the Week.

Timberman’s week got started with an 83-point ride at Reno Rodeo aboard Diamond G Rodeo’s Black Cashmere that was worth $910 and it only got better from there.

The next stop for Timberman was in Alberta for the Ponoka Stampede. His Round 1 matchup was Kesler Rodeo’s Sleeping Giant for 86 points. A matchup with Calgary Stampede’s Choke Cherry would send him on to the Final 4 where he would meet with another Calgary Stampede bronc, this one a household name, Agent Lynx.

The rookie against the veteran and eight seconds later, they put up a 90-point score on the leaderboard to claim the win.

Timberman is sitting just outside the Top 15 in the World at No. 17 but he still holds the lead in the Resistol Rookie Race by $12,000 as he heads into Cowboy Christmas. Timberman’s Canadian success makes him your Resistol Rookie Athlete of the Week.
