Oklahoma’s Jeter Lawrence just picked up a win that added to what has shaped up to already be an unforgettable rookie season. California Rodeo Salinas is a bucket list rodeo for some that Lawrence has already claimed to be your Resistol Rookie of the Week.

At the Big Week Bull Riding Xtreme Bulls that kicked it all off, Lawrence put together an 87-point ride on Four Star Rodeo’s Westec Joe. It was an early $3,000 for the rookie to take into the Final Round where he was bucked off Bridwell Pro Rodeo’s Speck. Only one cowboy rode two which left Lawrence the No. 3 cowboy in the Average. He claimed over $7,000 from the Big Week Bull Riding alone.

Going into California Rodeo Salinas, Lawrence had the momentum rolling just the way he needed it. He had a rematch with Westec Joe, the same bull from the night before. It played out in similar fashion, putting Lawrence second in the Round with an 86.5-point ride. His bull on Championship Sunday would be Flying U Rodeo’s Naughty Sal. The two would be the only match up to get a score on the board and it would be an impressive 88 points.

Lawrence added $18,800 to his name from California Rodeo Salinas and when added to his pay day from the Big Week Bull Riding, he is the No. 10 ranked bull rider in the World. He has also jumped back to the No. 1 spot in the Resistol Rookie Race by $10,000. Lawrence is your Resistol Rookie Athlete of the Week after riding like a veteran at the legendary California Rodeo Salinas.
