Cole Clemons is an all-around hand but his main event is tie-down roping. The Resistol Rookie currently sits No. 12 in the PRCA World Standings and a successful week in the northwest has moved him closer to where he wants to be while also earning him his second Resistol Rookie Athlete of the Week title.
Clemons’ performance at the Horse Heaven Roundup looked more like a veterans as he focused on not only each go-round but stayed in the Average. A 7.6 got him fifth-place money in Round 2 before he bested that with a 7.4 in the Short Go. Clemons clocked a 24.3 on three to be fifth in the Average. The rodeo in Kennewick added over $4,500 to his name.
Down the road in Idaho, Clemons would stop the clock at 8.6 to be just two tenths out of the win but cash in his next pay day. This win added $1,800 to his name.
With $95,836 in regular season earnings, Clemons is looking at a possible National Finals Rodeo qualification to come along with an excited Resistol Rookie year. He also has a $15,000 lead in the Rookie Race as we go into the last five weeks of the season. Clemons has now claimed his second Resistol Rookie of the Week title and is right where he wants to be, inside the Top 15 in the World.
