Canada’s own Ethan Mazurenko matched up with one of Calgary Stampede’s stand-out horses Yippee Kibitz on their home turf. Mazurenko’s winning ride makes him your Resistol Rookie Athlete of the Week.

At the Sundre Pro Rodeo, Mazurenko and Yippee Kibitz would top the leaderboard with what was the highest marked ride of his career by 3.5 points. The 91-point ride was more than enough to win the rodeo, doing so by three points over Dallas Hay and Waylon Bourgeois.

Mazurenko has added his score on Yippee Kibitz to a long list of 90+ point rides on the Calgary bronc. That includes rides from Leighton Berry and Jess Pope as well as Tim O’Connell’s 92 from the Riggin Rally in Darby, Montana in 2022.

As for the standings, Mazurenko is inside the Top 35 bareback riders in the World and he sits at No. 5 in the Resistol Rookie Race. This Sundre Pro Rodeo win added $2,800 to his earnings and is the momentum booster he needs as he heads into the busiest time of the season.

Mazurenko is your Resistol Rookie Athlete of the Week after proving he is a force to be reckoned with at Sundre Pro Rodeo.
