Resistol Rookie Athlete of the Week: Wacey Schalla Dominates at His Cheyenne Frontier Days Debut

Wacey Schalla’s hot streak is only getting hotter. The Resistol Rookie cowboy made his debut at the Daddy of ‘Em All and the splash he made left no doubt that he will be back to win it all. Schalla is your Resistol Rookie Athlete of the Week.

Starting in the bareback riding, Schalla cracked out in Performance 2 where he was one of two rookies that moved on and he topped the leaderboard with an 83.5-point ride. His matchup with Rocky Mountain Pro Rodeo’s Hondo was the best of the day. Later in the performance, Schalla nodded his head on Stace Smith Pro Rodeo’s Island Time to be 84 points and be the No. 1 bull rider from Performance 2 by five points.

When the Semifinals came, Schalla rode bulls in Semifinals 1. His massive ride would be marked 91-points and he would lock in his shot in the Finals. Schalla’s Semifinals ride in the bareback riding is one that he will never forget. The 88-point ride came aboard Smith Pro Rodeo’s Independence with some added flare.

On Championship Sunday, the No. 1 Rookie would be 89-points in the bareback riding on Smith Pro Rodeo’s Risky Business to finish is a tie for second-place. His Cheyenne debut in the bull riding came to an end with an 83-point ride on Dakota Rodeo’s Big Time to be third.

Schalla’s regular season has been impressive and that continued at the Daddy of ‘Em All. A pay day came his way every time he nodded his head and he is eyeing the Top 15 in the bull riding and locking in his No. 1 place in the Resistol Rookie All-Around Race. After his performance in Cheyenne, Schalla cinches his fourth Resistol Rookie Athlete of the Week title.
