Rhett Beutler, with Beutler & Son Rodeo, says that aside from Commotion, Killer Bee is the best horse that Beutler & Son has ever had. He says it is amazing what she does, every time she is out she gives it all she’s got.
It is no coincidence that Killer Bee is out of Commotion. She was part of the 84% of his offspring that made the cut to go up and down the rodeo road. Killer Bee has gone on to become a household name and she has bucked for a perfect 50 out of 50 stock score twice. One of those times came at the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo where Will Lowe matched up with the Beutler & Son mare.
After having a picture perfect 2021 year in the bareback riding, Killer Bee has been switched back over to the Saddle Bronc Riding for 2022, she has gone back and forth through out her career. Beutler’s favorite out she has ever made came as a saddle bronc at the 2016 National Finals Rodeo in Round 7.
During the 2022 season, there were two 92-point rides made on Killer Bee. One came in Tuscon, Arizona with Brody Cress and the other was Leon Fountain in Austin, Texas. Short Garrett went 90.5 in Lawton, Oklahoma in August.
Beutler & Son has been working since 2016 to get a Killer Bee baby on the ground and they recently got their first successful embryo with the help of renowned Dr. Gregg Veneklasen. They are hoping that after this year, they can have her carry her one and keep it going from there.
Killer Bee was raised on a bottle for three to four months and now, she lets you get just close enough you can almost touch her.
“She knows who we are and what we do but she does not quite let you walk up and rub on her yet,” Beutler said.
Killer Bee is an extraordinary athlete with much more success to be had and we will see her again at the Thomas and Mack this December.
